Additional Information : The work is Hand Signed in ink "L. Foujita" at the lower right margin.
The work is also annotated "E.A" (Epreuve d'artist=Artist proof) in pencil at the lower left margin.
The woodcut was printed in a limited edition of 299 with a few artist proofs in collaboration of G. Angiolini and G. Rougeaux. This work is one of the the few artist proofs.
Foujita created the work in comission for a book, titled "La Fontaine, vingt Fables" (The Fountain, twenty Tales).
Jean Cocteau wrote the preface and further illustrations, apart from Foujita (3 different, whereas this work is one of them), were contributed by Brayer, Briachon, Buffet, Caillard, Carzou, Chapelain-Midy, Desnoyer, Leonor Fini, Fontanarosa, Goerg, Lila de Nobili, Oudot, Picard-le-Doux, Planson, Terechkovitch, Touchagues, Vertes, Villon and Waroquier.
The Woodcut was printed by Commpagnonnage in Paris and published by Jaspard Polus & Cie, Monaco in 1961.

Condition : Excellent Condition,
