<B>FOSSIL FISH EATING ANOTHER FOSSIL FISH</B></I><BR> <I>Mioplosus sp. </B></I>and<I> Knightia sp.<BR>Eocene<BR>Green River Formation, Wyoming</B></I><BR>This unfortunate Mioplosus was attempting to dine on a small Knightia in the waters of the enormous freshwater Green River lake system when he choked to death before completing his final meal. The smaller fish protrudes 2½ inches from the mouth of the 9 inch long <I>Mioplosus</B></I> and was itself probably about 4 inches long before it was caught by this voracious predator and the incident captured in stone for all eternity. This unusual arrangement, of one fish in the process of swallowing another, is extremely an extremely rare find, and is known as an aspiration, in this case preserving a dramatic moment that passed 35-50 million years ago on a limestone matrix measures 13½ x 7¾ inches.<BR><BR><b>Shipping:</b> Requires 3rd Party Shipping (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.heritageauctions.com/common/shipping.php">view shipping information</a>)
