(FORREST CAVALRY ARCHIVE): A great archive related to Major John C. Noble a quartermaster who served in Forrest's Cavalry Corp. Includes Noble's service record, 1p. 8vo. in period pencil, in full: "John C. Noble enlisted in the Confederate service at the outbreak of the war, but owing to physical disability was not assigned active field duty. Served for some time on Gen. Abr. Buford's staff was made asst. quarter master of the 6th Confederate regiment with rank of capt. afterwards promoted to quartermaster with the rank of major. Was mustered out at close of war. Received pardon and was restored to citizenship Dec. 27, 1866". Along with a partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., Meridian, Ms., Dec. 7, 1863, Special Order detailing Pvt. J. R. Wilson of the 3rd Kentucky Infantry to Noble's command; a partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., Demopolis, Ala., Mar. 4, 1864, Special Order detailing Sgt. F. W. Thomas 3rd Kentucky Infantry to Noble's command; D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., Trenton, Tn., Apr. 3, 1864, "Hd. Qrs. 2 Divn. Forrest's Cavalry", in full: "Capt. J. C. Noble a. q. m. is hereby relived from duty with this command. He will turn over to Maj. Alison qr. Ms. Bill's Brigade the quartermaster funds in his possession and then report to the Chief qr. ms. of the dept. for orders"; D.S. 1p. 4to., Jackson, Tn., Apr. 4, 1864, "Office Chf. Qr. Ms., Forrest Cavalry", in part: "...In compliance with orders from the Maj. <p>2.) This auction will be held in two parts. Part I (Lots 1-415) will
begin at 1:00 PM Eastern Time on Saturday, March 29, 2003. Part II (Lots 600-1550) will begin at Noon Eastern Time on Wednesday, April 2, 2003. However, you may bid at any time prior to the sale dates.
<p>3.) There is a 17.5% Buyer's Premium charged on the final hammer price
of
each lot. Lots purchased through our website (alexautographs.com) or by any other means other than the icollector.com or ebayliveauctions.com bidding service are not subject to this additional fee.
<p>4.) The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.

stated) to the original buyer. Any item sold which is determined to be not authentic by two independent authenticators acceptable to both parties to the sale may be returned by the original buyer at any time for an immediate refund of the purchase price (only).
<p>16.) Items may also be returned if the catalog description differs
significantly from the item¹s actual condition; such returns must be made within three (3) days of purchaser¹s receipt of the lot(s). All returned lots must be in the same condition as shipped. All items are in very good condition unless stated otherwise. Items housed in frames have not been examined outside of the frame. Lots which bear defects or damage not visible because of framing will not be subject to return.
