GRADE BOXLOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 20 Ga. S# 23893. Bbl. 25”. This fine gun is one of among one of 15 Regal Grade XXV guns sold at the 1980 Dallas auction of Churchill’s final production. It remains in excellent condition. The 25” dovetailed bbls. fitted w/ flat Churchill rib, which is gold inlaid “XXV” at rear. Tops of bbls. are engraved “Churchill Gun Makers Ltd. 61, Pall Mall, ST. James’s, London, England” on left. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs w/ 2 3/4” chambers. Bottoms of bbls. are engraved w/ S#s & splinter is marked w/ importer (A&F). Case hardened dbl. Ogee backed boxlock action features automatic safety (“SAFE” inlaid in gold) & dbl. triggers. Action is engraved w/ approx. 80% coverage, nicely cut scroll engraving w/ some rose bouquet highlights. Maker’s name is in scroll terminated ribbon on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate & triggerguard are engraved w/ matching scroll. Triggerplate is also engraved “The Regal Model”. S# is on triggerguard tang. Nicely marbled & lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/8" over checkered wood butt features elongated drop points, point pattern checkering w/ mullered borders around grip & a vacant gold oval on toeline. Matching splinter Sulfgate ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BORE DIAMETER: left .615, right .614. BORE RESTRICTIONS: left .011 Mod, right .008 IC. WALL THICKNESS: left .032, right .034. DAH: 2 1/6”. DAC: 1 1/2”+. Cast: approx. 3/8 off. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 6oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: green canvas “VC” case w/ stitched leather corners lined in green felt. Churchill silver embossed label is in lid. Case contains 2 piece brass & beech cleaning rod, 2 ebony bodied Churchill marked snap caps & a key. Case is very fine w/ minor marks on the exterior & minor rubs/soiling on interior. Email from E. J. Churchill Group. CONDITION: very fine w/ evidence of minor field use. Bbls. retaining approx. 95% original streaky blue w/ some minor handling marks. Action also shows some light silvering along edges at bottom. There is slight silvering evident on thumbpiece, safety & edges of triggerguard. Stocks retain nearly all of their original rubbed oil finish w/ a few very light scratches & marks. Bores are bright & shiny. Bbls. are on face. Mechanically fine.
