This is extremely fine, museum quality, hand made Bobbin Lace doily. A woven lace, possibly cotton thread of size 100/2. This "Treasure" may have been woven in sections and the sections than joined together. Flowers have raised work. This variety is called "Rosaline" and the technique dates back to the 16th Century. It took most likely 50 + hours of work to complete this exquisite sample of the Victorian era finest workmanship. This spectacular work of Art survived its 125+ years of existence in excellent condition with no broken threads. Size : 5-1/2" Diameter, circa 1850-80.
