AN IMPORTANT & EXTREMELY RARE ANCIENT EARLY ISLAMIC FIGURAL ABBASID POLYCHROME LUSTRE POTTERY BOWL MESOPOTAMIA OR CENTRAL ASIA, CIRCA 9TH CENTURY. Of rounded form with slightly everted lip on short foot, the tin white interior painted in two tones of lustre with a central large seated cross-legged human figure wearing a yellow robe, a small jewel or flower or other object held in the raised right & left hand, a small floral spray on each side, the rim with alternating brown and yellow lustre lobes, the exterior plain.
