FERLINGHETTI, LAWRENCE
(b. 1919) American poet and novelist, one of the most important figures in the Beat Generation, the co-founder of City Lights Books. Fine content A.L.S. on the verso of a picture postcard of City Lights Books, 1p. Oblong 8vo., [n.p., April 26, n.d.].], to American film director Francis [Ford Coppola] regarding his epic film ""Apocalypse Now"". In part: ""...I gave Tony Dingman my 'off-the-top-of-my-head- comments on Apocalypse Now and it occurs to me I didn't mention any of the really great things about the film...The photograph was brilliant, and so were many of the early sequences. I loved the French sequence...The war & fire scenes were great and awe-full. The surfing Colonel was a fine number...Only Kurtz didn't come across . There jus wasn't enough of him...He was the weakest part of the film..."". Boldly written, slight creasing to upper right corner, very good.
