To which are added four sermons preach'd on several occasions. By Mr. James Fergusson, late minister of the Gospel at Kilwinning. SOLE EDITION(?), pages (4), 171, 12mo, original blind-stamped brown cloth, edges gilt. by Remnant & Edmonds, with their ticket : a tiny spot of wear at the head of one outer joint, otherwise a fine, fresh and attractive copy. Possibly by Mrs Watkins. Henry Watkins was vicar of St John's Potter's Bar from 1835 to 1889 (CUL). Not found in COPAC or WorldCat. The one-page preface subscribed "S. L. W." and dated from St. John's Parsonage, Potters Bar, Dec. 18th, 1850. Inscribed on the front flyleaf "To my dearest / Sara Mary / this memorial of departed / relatives composed by her / Mother / is presented with loving affection. The Vicarage / Potters Bar Feb 12. 1871." At the end of the volume are tipped in 4-pages manuscript in the same hand, signed 'S.L.W.' concerning the life of her father.(2) RICHARDSON ( John ). Pages (2), vi, 240, 243 - 247, (3), complete thus, with the half-title and the advert leaf at end, 12mo, contemporary sheep, wanting label and headbands worn but the binding strong, blank flyleaves lightly discoloured : a very good copy. Smith II.485. A Quaker autobiography, first published (1757) four years after the author's death at the age of 86. The greater part of the volume centres on his trip to America (1700-03) and his second visit there in 1731.
