A revealing anti-immigrant T.L.S., 2pp. 4to., New Milford, Aug. 2, 1936 to Pres. Frank Kingdon of the University of Newark. After claiming she had helped keep Fatty Arbuckle from settling in Tokyo to open a nightclub "with a lot of Hollywood girls", Beard claims that open immigration and free trade will not avert war with Japan: "...the whole earth would be reduced to misery if the pullulating swarms of the Orient and elsewhere were permitted to breed here as they do at home...".
