Franklin D. Roosevelt Document Signed. Partially printed diplomatic appointment, 22.5" x 19", Washington, D.C., March 11, 1940, naming William L. Peck a U.S. Consul to Naples, Italy. Boldly signed by FDR and countersigned by Cordell Hull as Secretary of State. Peck's would have been a critical assignment given the date and location of his posting. Italy was an Axis power requiring keen observation by the still neutral United States. Horizontal and vertical folds, else fine condition.
