FDR Monogrammed Caster Set In 1945 following the
FDR Monogrammed Caster Set In 1945 following the passing of President Franklin Roosevelt, his wife Eleanor presented various White House staff members with personal items before sending the balance to their home in Hyde Park, New York. Lillian Rogers Parks selected this lovely 9 1/4" silverplate caster, which includes a matching pair of 4 1/4" high glass jars (not including their stoppers) and two 7 3/4" silverplate forks. Great condition with only a small chip on the bottom of one stopper. Manufactured in Rotterdam, this hallmarked set displays a seal of some sort on the base and forks. As FDR loved the sea, the set was most likely used not only in the White House but at sea as well. A long detailed White House letter of historical significance from Lillian Rogers Parks accompanies FDR's item. Lot:254
