FD-7 "Euphoria" First-Printing Concert Poster with Some Original Hand-Coloring.First-printing San Francisco concert poster for The Daily Flash, The Rising Sons (with Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal), Big Brother The Holding Company (without Janis Joplin yet) and The Charlatans playing at the Avalon Ballroom on Friday and Saturday nights, May 6 7, 1966. Known as FD-7 in the Family Dog numbered series, this poster is one of the "set breakers" that many collectors need for a complete FD set, but many lack. It didn't feature a major band (at least prominently), the shows were canceled, and it was not so much a psychedelic design as it was a cartoon, so the poster was not saved much.

The blue yellow coloring at the top was most likely done by the Family Dog promoter at the time. In the words of Eric King's authoritative psychedelic poster guide, "A number of copies of the first [BW] version were colored in by hand by people in the Family Dog office. Since this was done under the auspices of the concert promoter who was generally involved in the creation of the images themselves, these copies should not be considered damaged or defaced, and should not be considered of lesser value."

Measures a shade under 14" x 20" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.Literature: See Grushkin, Paul, The Art of Rock - Posters from Presley to Punk, Abbeville Press, New York, 1987, p.95 (illus.).
