DOUBLE RIFLE BY O. GEYGER & CO. Cal. 9.3x74R. S# 11098. Bbl. 23 3/4". This relatively light weight short barrel double rifle in this relatively powerful cartridge was probably made for hunting wild boar. Dovetail bbls. w/ full length matted rib. A U-notch single leaf rear sight is dovetailed through a raised portion of rib & a silver bead front sight w/ flip up white enamel “Moon" bead is longitudinally dovetail into raised front portion. Tops of both barrels engraved “O. GEYGER & CO. BERLIN”. Barrel flats stamped w/ German nitro proofs for 9mm & 75mm (measured groove diameter .366). A sling loop is screwed to bottom rib. Case hardened, scallop backed “clam shell” action which has deep reinforcing bolsters (supporting sides of barrels). Features greener type side safety (“SICHER” inlaid in gold), pin cocking indicators, cross bolt 3rd fastener & dbl. triggers. Both triggers are set & have checkered finger blades. Action engraved w/ 80% coverage, well cut, sm. scroll surrounding rose bouquets on sides & bottom. Both sides of action engraved w/ makers name & address. Blued top lever is gold inlaid w/ high relief “W”. The number “3016” (Geyger serial number?) is in front of pivot. Trigger guard is of horn & has decorative schnabel toward front of bow & finger spur at rear. Round knob buttstock of well marbled & lightly figured European walnut measures 15 1/8" over relatively new “universal” solid 1 3/8" red pad. Stock features flush inlet diamond shaped horn drop points, closely spaced point pattern checkering on diamond grip, sm. right hand shadow line cheekpiece. A scroll engraved cartridge trap w/ space for three rds. under cover, along w/ a sling loop on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend w/ inlet horn tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: DAH: approx. 2 13/16". DAC: approx. 1 1/2". Cast: approx. 5/8" off. WEIGHT: 8 lbs, 1 oz. CONDITION: fine, bbls. retaining over 80% original blue w/ scattered marks w/ some loss from hand wear on sides & cleaning of scattered pinprick rusting associated w/ poor storage (may clean). Action retains over 40% original case hardening color, also w/ scattered freckling. Stocks retain most of their original hand rubbed oil finish w/ scattered minor marks. Checkering lightly worn along ridge of diamond grip. A crack on left side panel has been repaired & has associated area of refinishing. Left drop point somewhat lifted. Condition of horn trigger guard is very fine w/ no insect damage. Pad is relatively new & could be fitted better. Bores are very fine w/ strong sharp rifling throughout. Action is tight. Ejectors are slightly out of time. Triggers set. (21-1688/MGM). CURIO. $6,000-12,000.
