Rel. de l'époque : plein veau, filet doré sur les plats, dos fleuronné (restauration visible aux mors, coiffes et coins, qqs épidermures et taches). Rare et belle première édition collective posthume ornée de 49 (sur 50) superbes burins figurant surtout des embryons humain ou d'animaux et leur évolution : cochons, mouton, cheval, requin, oiseaux... Fabrici (ca. 1533-1619) était professeur de médecine à l'Université de Padoue où il avait suivi les cours de Fallope, lui-même élève de Vésale. Il fut un des plus grands embryologistes de son temps (cfr. De formatione ovi & pulli, 1621, dans lequel on trouve les premières planches sur l'évolution de l'oeuf de poule fécondé) et fut le premier à étudier le placenta et à disséquer des embryons (cfr. De formato foetu, 1604); il fit la 1re étude originale et systématique des structure, distribution et position des valves sanguines (cfr. De venarum ostiolis, 1603); il publia un des premiers traités sur les organes de la voix (cfr. De locutione, & eius instrumentis, 1601)... Tous ces ouvrages se trouvaient séparément du vivant de l'auteur et la plupart avaient été publiés dans un même format afin de pouvoir les relier ensemble selon le goût. # Krivasty 3804 (signale 4 parties seulement); # pas dans Wellcome, ni Bibl. After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 3.000 BEF will be send by registered post.

Payment will be made in Belgian Francs. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 7.000 BEF or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Belgian francs (BEF).
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 50.000 BEF.
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
