F. Scott Fitzgerald ALS
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
F. Scott Fitzgerald autograph letter signed, responding to a request to write for The Forum and outlining his fee schedule for short stories. Fitzgerald was always in financial trouble even though he received $8397 for writing Gatsby, obtaining half in advance and moving to Paris to save money. Undated (circa 1925) letter from Paris, France reads in full, ''14 Rue de Tilsitt / Dear Mr. Leach: The trouble is that I have to write popular short stories in order to get money to write what I want to do - which is novels. My price (Post, Red Book ect.) is $2000 at present. Even for a 3000 wd. Story, on definite order and no specification as to genre, I couldn't ask less than $1000. I've enjoyed The Forum immensely for the last several years. Sincerely, F. Scott Fitzgerald / Paris, France.'' Single page letter in very good condition with light toning and clean separations along vertical and horizontal folds, not affecting signature.
