<B>San Miguel, Costa Rica, Circa 1870s Counterstamp.</B></I> Copper-nickel. Very scarce Central American merchant's counterstamp on an 1860s Indian cent. Listed in Rulau's <I>Latin American Tokens </B></I>catalog and attributed to <B>Habilitado/Por/ F. Pinto M. Brene San Miguel</B></I>. The catalog number is <B>Rulau SJS 98</B></I> circa 1870s. There are two round counterstamps of Habilitado ('Validated") on the obverse.
