(Walt Disney, 1959) Color styling/background design painting accomplished in tempera on board depicting Sleeping Beauty in her chamber. The Visual Design of Sleeping Beauty was largely the result of artistic vision and work of Eyvind Earle. Earle had joined Disney's background department in 1951, and after serving as a background painter on the shorts and features of the early-to mid-1950s, he became one of the Studios key stylists. When Walt Disney saw pictures of the famed unicorn tapestries, he knew that was the look he wanted for Sleeping Beauty-and he knew Earle could give it to him. Signed at the lower right “Eyvind Earle.” Measures approx. 9 ¼ in. x 24 in. Pin holes at the corners; otherwise, Fine condition. An incredible piece of original pre-production artwork from this classic film and perfect for display.
