Extremely rare, highly collectible specimen, gemstone, Chromium ( Green ) Petrified Wood - one of the rarest petrified woods ever discovered. Only one truck load was unearthed near Winslow, Arizona in the 1970's. By carbon dating, it has been determined to originate from the Chinle formation, Triassic era - approximately 180 million years ago. The specimen was once a conifer tree (Araucarioxylon Arizonicum) which grew to about 200 feet in height with a width of approximately 6 to 8 feet. During the fossilization process, the organic matter from this tree was replaced with the element Chromium (Cr). The agatization process resulted in a natural mint green color. 1.11 grams, 11 X 19mm triangular chunk, in display case with information card. Could be mounted as a pendant, a gift for nature lovers.
