Extremely rare American breech loading 22 caliber target pistol marked "Atlas Gun Co. Ilion, N.Y. Pat'd Feb. 18.1890" The pistol shows simple construction and measures approx 9-1/2" overall with 6-1/2" barrel. The stock is a one piece acting as a grip and frame with screwed in trigger guard and hammer depresses downward to open breech. A simple extractor is mounted on the right side the pistol shows iron sights with two positionsfor rear sight, one at the back of the barrel and one 2-1/2" from the muzzle which would utilize the same sight. The condition is very good plus with some slight edge wear, minor marks in the wood and about 60% blueturning to brown on the barrel just starting to age naturally with some slight pinprick pitting. This company was in business a very short period of time and a few rifles are known by Atlas Gun Co. but we have only seentwo pistols in 42 years and this is better than the example in the Harry Knode collection.
