Extremely Rare Winchester/Western Salesman's Traveling Display Sample Case

Leather bound wooden American traveling display case measuring 16 1/2 inches wide, 10 1/2 inches deep and 3 3/4 inches high. The linings are royal blue velvet. The top is opened to expose the upper removable tray which has a protective velvet flap and contains 38 various bullets and shotgun shells. The flap is nicely embroidered "WESTERN" in red script over gold "WORLD CHAMPION AMMUNITION". The Winchester display is a pull out tray with the flap embroidered in red "WINCHESTER/(gold) WORLD STANDARD AMMUNITION". The Winchester tray is displayed exactly like the Western tray. Each tray has a black & white photocopies of the arrangement of each tray. The rounds are numbered in the photos and there are typed sheets identifying each cartridge and shell. All of the rounds are dummies. Reference is made to these unique cases in "Winchester Shotguns and Shotshells" by Ronald W. Studt. In this book he states, "Approximately 45 were distributed."

Very fine. The leather exterior shows wear along the folds of the hinges. The leather handle is fair as separated. The lining shows some mild high spot wear. Totally unique with few of these known to exist. The ultimate accessory item for the serious Winchester collector!
