Extremely Rare Only Known Pair of Engraved Solid Silver Philadelphia Peanut Deringers -A) Engraved S
A) Fitted with cone front and notch rear sights, with the top of each breech marked "DERINGER" and no other makers marks visible. Extensive scroll and punch dot engraving are visible on the barrels, locks, trigger guards and stocks, with fish scales on the hammers and floral patterns on the barrel and tang screws. The stocks maintain the traditional Deringer profile, while being made from two pieces of cast solid silver, with Schnabel tips, checkering along the backside, and a birds head butt. Traditionally produced in pairs, very few Deringer sets survive to this day, with these being the only known matching solid silver pair.

A) Fine. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled gray patina. The nipple appears to be original and shows some surface oxidation. The stock is excellent remaining bright and showing very little discoloration from age. The engraving remains crisp and clear. Mechanically fine.

B) Very good plus. A section of original brown finish is visible on the underside of the barrel, with the exposed metal surfaces showing a mottled gray patina with some scattered minor pitting on the breech, breech end of the barrel and on the barrel tang. The stock is beginning to take on an aged patina and there are a several minor dings and dents. Mechanically good. The engraving remains crisp.
