This example is similar, but precedes, the 1911 Type I magazine except that the follower does not have the dimple to improve feeding. There are five holes on each side of the body in a zig-zag pattern. The base has all four sides exposed with two flush pins holding it in place and there is a lanyard loop on the bottom. The rear bottom body of the magazine has a small hole present in the base for moisture release. A similar magazine is pictured on page 62 of the book "Colt .45 Service Pistols: Models of 1911 and 1911A1" by Charles W. Clawson.

Excellent, the magazine remains 98% of the original bright high polish blue finish on the base. The two-tone body retains 90% of the original unpolished blue finish. There are some minor scratches and rub marks overall. An impossible magazine to find in any condition! The 1910 Colt pistol that this magazine is made for is worth well into the six digit figures!
