Manufactured in 1890, this Third Model production features the dust cover guide rail integral to the top of the receiver and dust cover has the serrated finger grip on the rear. Blade front and adjustable buck horn rear sights. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight and "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL. 1873" flanked by the decorative foliate design, the serial number is at the rear of the lower tang and the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "38 CAL.". Full length magazine, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with a steel forend cap and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate with compartment containing a four piece cleaning rod.

Condition:
Extremely fine. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish with some edge wear and scattered areas that have thinned to a smooth plum patina. There is a small area on the right side of the receiver that shows evidence of having been cleaned. The wood is excellent with almost all of the original varnish remaining and showing some scattered minor dents and light scratches. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
