Extraordinary WWII Nazi K98 Mauser High Turret Sniper Rifle
This is a very fine example of an original WWII German high turret sniper rifle manufactured by the Mauser factory that has been fitted with a Dialytan 4x sniper scope. The turret mount rifles were considered the most efficient design of the K98 rifles and they were in service from 1939 to the end of the war. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, the right side of the receiver is marked with a single "eagle 135" Waffenamt proof and the left side has an "eagle 135" and Nazi firing proofs flanking the serial number, with the receiver side wall marked "Mod. 98". The left rear of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof. The left side of the rear scope base is marked with an "eagle / 135" proof. The rifle has a milled trigger guard, floor plate and barrel bands. The matching bolt is a correct wartime version with the milled safety. The rifle is fitted with an early all blued sniper scope made by the Hensoldt scope company with the left side of the tube marked "DIALYTAN 4x / bmj" and "71417 / blue cross". It has the correct style sniper elevation knob that is graduated from 100-800 meters, with the front ring numbered "31808". The rifle is equipped with a hooded ramp front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters, steel cleaning rod with slotted head and mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with a cupped buttplate and original brown leather sling. The right side of the buttstock is marked with a large "eagle / WaA135" proof and a smaller, unrecognizable proof below it.
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: laminated
Gauge: 8 mm
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 37075K
Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 95% plus original finish with some wear and thinning on the barrel bands, floor plate and hardware. The stock has been varnished and with the exception of a minor crack on the right side of the buttstock extending from the takedown disk to the buttplate, the stock is also very fine with a few scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The scope is very good with most of the original finish remaining with thinning on each end caused from the leather covers. The optics are clear. The lens covers are very good. The rifle has matching numbers except the scope. A very nice representative example of an authentic WWII Nazi high turret sniper rifle.
