This is an exceptionally nice example of an original, late WWII German K43 sniper rifle as manufactured by the Walther factory. This is probably a fairly early 1945 production rifle in that was made in the "a" serial number block, that is fitted with an original WWII scope and mount. This model has the late war rough forged receiver which is marked with a small "eagle 359" Waffenamt, next to "K43" over the stacked "ac/45" markings designating the wartime factory and year of manufacture. This rifle has the late war rough cast type three receiver, single bolt guide, rough cast top cover with the reinforcing web and the left hand cocking knob. It is fitted with the correct stamped sheet metal action cover with the sliding dust cover. The end of the barrel is correctly unthreaded and has the wartime rubber cap on the end. This rifle is fitted with a late war all laminated stock and handguard, that has a single "Eagle 359" inspection stamp on the left side with a single small Waffenamt proof in the pistol grip. It is fitted with an original K43, Walther proofed scope mount that is numbered (paragraphed) on the front end of the scope mount with rifle serial number "5489". The scope is a correct wartime model manufactured by Opticotechna, Prerau Czechoslovakia that is marked on the side of the tube, "GW ZF4/36651/dow" with a blue triangle. The scope has an original rubber eyepiece with the late style leather and plug lens caps. The rifle is complete with the original sheet metal front sight cover, the cleaning rod, late WWII leather sling, with an original field manual and spare firing pin buttstock trap.
BBL: 23 inch round
Stock: laminated
Gauge: 7.92 mm Mauser
Finish: phosphate
Grips:
Serial Number: 3170a
Condition: Excellent with 99% of the original wartime phosphate/blue finish overall with just minor edge and high spot wear overall. The stock and handguard are both in excellent condition with nice stock proofs with the original wartime rough machined finish showing minor handling. The scope and mount are also both in excellent condition with 98% of the blue/phosphate finish remaining. The optics are clear but a little hazy and both windage and elevation knobs work correctly. The leather lens cap and sling are both in very good plus condition overall. The rifle itself has matching numbers, except the scope mount. A nice example of a late WWII K43 sniper rig.
