Measuring 3 inches diameter and 2 5/8 inches tall with lid, this silver case bears a set of three hallmarks on the underside. The lid is engraved with a simplified 1914 Iron Cross design, with the arms bearing miniature badges; (clockwise from top) a gunnery badge, pilot qualification badge, land pilot badge and an observers badge. The body is engraved with a laurel topped with a "34" containing the inscription "DAS OFFIZERS/Kpf.-GESCHW.4/DEM/HAUPTMANN H. GEYER/FUHRER FL.-ABT.34/ 12-12-1915" (the officers/fighter squadron 4/to/Captain H. Geyer/Leader of Flight Group 34/December 12, 1915), along with eight signatures around the body. The bottom is hallmarked with what writer believes to be maker's marks with silver content, most likely sterling.
