Exact date of production is unknown, but the prominence of the hollyhock mon of the Tokugawa Shogunate on both metal and wood suggests it was made during the 1600-1868 timeframe of the Shogunate's dominance of Japanese affairs. Post front and groove rear sights, with an untranslated 5-figure marking on the top flat behind the rear sight, an engraved scene of two dragons in flight rendered in silver with gold accents covering most of the upper surface, and the Tokugawa mon in gold between the dragons. The brass lock work is equipped with an external spring and a skeleton trigger. Smooth hardwood stock, with brass barrel pins, a pair of golden mon on each side of the forearm and a 5th on top of the wrist, and a smooth grip.
