Exquisite and Splendid Highly Intricate Part Silk Persian Moud-Mashad Runner. 100% Natural, Vegetable dye, hand woven, hand spun, pure silk and rarest baby lamb's wool pile on cotton foundation. This finely woven Moud with its all-over stylized fish design on a beige background, embodies the tangible form of a simple and complex at the same time, intricately, yet marvelously executed art form underfoot. This lovely piece is masterfully hand woven, knot by knot, using superior quality baby lamb's wool and finest pure silk. It has about 200 knots per square inch and it takes over three years to weave and create this beauty. Only a master weaver would be able to weave a rug of this caliber with such highly intricate design. The lustrous and glowing silk highlights give this captivating piece an added three dimensional character. Moud is a satellite town in the proximity of Mashad, the capital of Khorasan province. However, the word Moud epitomizes the finest and most fabulous rugs of the Khorasan province rug producing centers. Please notice that also attesting to the fine weave is the fact that the back of this rug looks as good as the front. The leather band sewn on the edge on the back of this rug is to prevent the edges from curling under due to the extreme tightness of the weave. Size: 13 feet 3 inches X 2 feet 6 inches.
