Exquisite Rare & Colorful Nomadic Weave Persian Yalame-Qashqai rug. 100%Natural, hand woven, vegetable dye, pure baby lamb's wool pile on wool foundation. Woven by the nomadic and migratory tribe, known as the Qashqai in the southwestern part of Iran. The weaving is unique in that it feature both nomadic and urban influences at the same time with patterns ranging from city influences curve-linear floral patterns to tribal inspired geometric. This lovely Qashqai is woven on a wool foundation and therefor referred to as "yalame halvaee". Needless to say this type of rugs have a better insulating value because of that. It is noteworthy that, the motifs and symbols incorporated in the pattern, represent everyday life experiences, such as influences derived from cultural beliefs that would include elements such as prosperity, fertility,religion and metaphysical forces shaping their lives. it is customary for women of the Qashqai tribe to weave these rugs. This piece is adorned with a charming collection of birds and animals. There is a lot more to the art of rug making than meets the eye. Qashqai carpets are woven by Qashqai mountain weavers, always women, who live with their families in black goat-hair tents which can be easily transported to the high mountain pastures for the brief summers and into the valleys below for the extended winters. The hard working Qashqai woman gathers plants and roots which grow locally to brew and dye her hand spun wool with endless array of colors. She washes, cards and separates the wool from her family's own sheep, setting aside much of it to be pressed into felt, and then choosing only the best to be woven into carpets.
