This is an exquisite French made porcelain 1840's 12 inch Bisquit Roquscille bust of man This is made from a porcelain which is called bisquit, unfired and unglazed, sculpture featuring a cavalier. The sculpture is finely executed with swirling designs and shaped around the edging. There is fine detail throughout the piece from the rose on the lapel, the lace on the collar every feature is beautifully executed. It is in excellent condition.The maker is not known and this is generally the case for character pieces. Local craftsmen generally made this piece and were also designed to look like the members of the aristocratic circle. The general color of the piece is peach or light pink in color. These pieces are distinct and focused on the location in France. They were made in an unglazed and unpainted fashion to expose the purity and the natural quality of the craftsperson. They were made in France from the end of Empire period to roughly the beginning of the Victorian period.
