Exquisite Cased Set of Two Leonard Francolini Signed Engraved and Gold Inlaid Second Generation Colt Percussion Revolvers with Ivory Grips, Authenticity Letter and Accessories -A) Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver

A) This beautiful set of revolvers have flourishes of masterfully executed floral scroll engraving on the barrel, loading lever, barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, butt and back strap. There is a gold inlaid band at the muzzle and breech end of the barrel, the serial number "22478" is inlaid in gold on the left side of the frame and there is a raised gold inlaid Rampant Colt logo on the left recoil shield. The left side of the butt underneath the smooth ivory grips with gold Rampant Colt medallions is signed "Francolini" in script. With a letter from the Colt factory stating that they were unable to find the original shipping invoices and dates of shipment for these revolvers and are unable to produce a factory letter. There is also a letter from Leonard Francolini to a Mr. James Gefroh dated 3/22/04 that verifies that he performed the engraving and gold inlay on these revolvers for the Colt Custom Shop in the late 1970s. It also mentions the case and accessories as being original to the guns. With a large oak display case lined in wine colored velvet, an empty cap tin, a bullet mold, a nipple wrench/screwdriver, a powder flask and a "woodgrain" box.
