Expertly Engraved and Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 12 Heavy Duck Slide Action Trap Shotgun

This shotgun was manufactured in late 1957. The sides of the receiver are beautifully engraved with games scenes. The left side shows five gold inlaid geese taking flight from the edge of a river with tall grass in the foreground. The right side shows three gold inlaid geese taking flight from a pond with tall grasses around them. The left side is signed with the initials "H. S". The chamber marking on the barrel and the serial numbers have been gold wire inlaid. There is also gold wire inlaid borders and decorative flourishes of gold wire inlay. The shell lifter and bolt are jeweled. The barrel has a vent rib with a single pearlescent bead at the front, is choked full (.032) and has a 3 inch chamber. Mounted on a nicely figured, Fleur-de-Lis pattern hand checkered, extended walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with ebony grip cap, raised cheekpiece and solid red rubber Winchester recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches.

Professionally embellished, 97% of the high quality blue finish remains with some minor high edge and cycling wear. There are some scattered minor freckles of oxidation along the rib and on top of the receiver. The engraving remains crisp with excellent detail. Virtually all of the gold inlay remains. Most of the jeweling on the bolt and shell lifter remain. The replacement wood is excellent with some scattered minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. It would cost a small fortune to get this level of craftsmanship!
