Experimental or prototype Sharps model 4, .32 rimfire caliber, pepperbox derringer, SERIAL NUMBER 1. Blue and nickel plated, ivory grips. Pictured in the (Sharps firearms book) by Frank Sellers, page 154. The right side of the frame is marked, “C Sharps Patent / January 25, 1859”. The angle of the frame is more acute and pronounced and the grips are more bulbous than normally found on this model. The pistol shows an old of-the-period refinish, possibly by the factory. Approximately 75 – 85% of this old blue remains, with 95% plus old satin colored Watts type nickel. The grips are good to very good with normal yellowing and patina, and show some compression and age cracks around the grip screw area. Est.: $2,500 - $5,000
