Experimental Civil War era carbine, attributed to Terry. Carbine shows .58 caliber, 22” barrel, 38-1/2” overall in fine to excellent condition showing original bright and case hardened finishes. Nomarkings or serial numbers. This unusual prototype carbine was originally in the Bob Jeska collection, who specialized in rare military arms and particularly rare Civil War Carbines. The action is exposed by a boltmounted on the right side at rear of frame and a trapdoor type hinge which flips up, similar to Snyder. A plunger type bolt pulls to the reverse to expose the breech. The bolt is pushed forward to close the breech, thetrapdoor closes to lock, the bolt handle closes to lock, which secures the breech. The hammer is manually cocked and the nipple primed. A solid and good design. The carbine is in near fine condition showing just slight staining to the bright finishes and beginning normal aging. The lock and hammer show 95% bright original case hardening that is still firing. The stocks are very good plus to near fine with some storage type
