Exceptionally Scarce Colt 38 Special Kit Semi-Automatic Pistol

Estimate: $1000 - 1500
Rare pistol as manufactured in kit form by Colt Firearms for the Gil Hebard Company. These "Kit" pistols were introduced in 1964 and produced through 1970 in two calibers (.38 Special and .45 ACP). The concept was for Colt to be able to produce a Target Grade pistol fully finished but "Unassembled" and without sights, thus saving the costs of final assembly and testing. Of the ".38 Special Kit" guns, approximately 450 total were produced by Colt. Triangle HEG adjustable rear sight, high profile fixed front sight, with the areas on the slide where the sights were mounted slightly filed flat and a "3" stamped on top of the slide in front of the rear sight. The frame is a Super 38 Model serial numbered "191262" manufactured in 1969. Fitted with checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions. It has one "Colt" marked .38 Special magazine.
