Exceptionally Rare Factory Engraved Gold Plated Walther Model 9 Presentation Pistol with Original Walther Ivory Grips

This is a fantastic example of a beautiful pre-war Walther factory engraved and gold plated model 9 pocket pistols. These pistols were manufactured from 1921 until 1944 with this example being manufactured prior to April 1940 and probably in 1938/1939. The pistol is engraved in the traditional deep relief German oak leaf and acorn pattern that covers 95% of the entire pistol. It has been completely gold plated to include the magazine and internal parts. The left side of the slide has the standard two line "Walther's Patent MOD. 9" over the Walther banner with the right side having the single Walther's address markings. The right side of the slide and frame have the earlier "Crown/N" commercial proofs (used only until April 1940) with the serial number "544853" located on the rear section of the frame behind the grips. It has the standard blade front and grooved slide rear sight notch. It is fitted with a set of original Walther smooth ivory grips that have the inset Walther, intertwined "CW" (Carl Walther) logo on the left side with "6.35" marked on the right side. It is complete with one original Walther magazine.

Very fine with 95% of the period replated gold finish overall. The markings and proofs are clear and sharp. The grips are very fine with a very nice slightly darkened aged appearance, a couple of very minor age cracks at the lower edge of each grip and a very minor chip on the upper rear edge of the right grip where it was machined for the frame strap. This is a beautiful, early pre-war pistol, that was clearly intended as a special order factory engraved presentation pistol. If you ever wanted to own one of these early Walther pocket pistols this would be the one!
