Manufacturer: Mauser Model: 1934
This is a very rare early production Swiss contract Luger manufactured by the newly renamed Mauser factory. These 1934 Mauser banner commercial contract Luger pistols were for sale inside Germany, also for foreign contracts and were made up of a combination of left over DWM factory parts along with newly manufactured Mauser Luger parts. These Swiss contract Lugers can be found with both the blank chamber as in this case and those with the "Swiss Cross in a Sunburst". The serial number range for this model is between serial number 1275v-1920v with a total production quantity of approximately 645. The top of the chamber area is blank with the standard Mauser banner markings on front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension, the left side of the breechblock and the underside of the barrel all have the early "crown/U" commercial proof. The front of the frame and underside of the barrel both carry the full serial number of 1521 and the various smaller parts only marked with the last two digits (21) of the serial number. The only exception is the replaced hold-open latch and the fining pin, both of which carry the early gothic "S" proof found on 1934 "K" Lugers, indicating parts were pulled from normal Mauser Luger production for these contracts. It is fitted with the standard checkered walnut grips. It has an early nickel plated unmarked commercial magazine with the unmarked aluminum base.
