This is truly a "One-of-A-Kind" Model 1911A1 pistol. These pistols were produced on the original WWII tooling exactly as the U.S. Army contract pistol were made except these were made for in-house, Remington use and then later after WWII they were presented to various high level Remington-Rand Company officials as well as U.S. Government officials for their long service during the pistol program in WWII. It is estimated that approximately only 150 of this model were ever manufactured with this one being the ONLY Serial Number "1" pistol. Certainly this has dual-interest for both US martial and Remington collectors. This exact pistol is pictured on page 90 of the book "US Military Automatic Pistols 1920-1945" by Scott Meadows. The left side of the slide is marked in two lines "REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." with no other slide markings. The right side of the pistol is marked with only the serial number "1" stamped behind the take-down pin hole. There are no other markings on the entire pistol. It has the late WWII parts such as the stamped trigger, narrow checkered hammer spur, serrated slide stop and thumb safety, with the serrated mainspring housing. It is fitted with a set of late style Keyes Fibre grips with the reinforcing ribs and mold marks. It is fitted with a blued High Standard barrel that is marked with a single "P" and HS" on each side of the lug. It is complete with two new condition WWII blued magazines, both marked with a small "S" on the front lip. It is complete with it's original brown Kraft shipping box that has a small number "1" penciled on the upper left hand corner of the lid.

A rare example of highly desirable Serial Number "1" Remington-Rand pistol.
