Exceptional and deluxe engraved Sharps patent pepperbox derringer by Tipping & Lawden. Blue and gold finish, pearl grips in deluxe brass bound rosewood case with agents labeled in lid and ivory mounted accessories. .30 rimfire, serial number “4047”. The barrels show 30 to 60% original thinning blue finish drifting to a natural patina, with some minor aging just starting. The frame shows 98%+ rich original gold gilt. The hammer small parts and screws retain considerable finish. The action is good. Generally very good overall with near-fine and extra fat original pearls, showing a couple of miniscule chips at the edge. The case is deluxe in every way and shows brass straps and raised inlays. The interior of the case is lined in red velveteen in the partition style. An original label remains 50-70% intact in the center portion of the lid and reads, “Rodda/Gunmaker/Calcutta”. The interior of the case is very good+ to near fine with slight normal aging. A deluxe ivory-handled screwdriver with engraved and gold gilted brass ferrule. Also an ivory-tipped original cleaning rod, small oiler, and original key. One of the most deluxe and fancily cased Tipping & Lawden extant. From Tom Seymour Collection. Est.: $3,500 - $7,000.
