Exceptional and Rare C.S. Alsop Navy Percussion Revolver
One of a limited production of 500 manufactured circa 1862-1863. The top barrel flat is marked "C. R. ALSOP MIDDLETOWN CONN. / PATENTED JULY 17th. AUGUST 7th. 1860 MAY 14th. 1861", "C.R. ALSOP. PATENTED / NOV. 26th 1861" on the cylinder and "PATENTED JANY 21st 1860" on the left side of the frame. There is a brass cone front sight. The nose of the hammer strikes through the sighting groove in the top of the frame. It is fitted highly figured smooth walnut grips with "piano" finish. The loading lever and hammer are casehardened and the remainder of the revolver is blue.

Very fine, with 85% of the original bright high polish blue finish, with a gray patina on the backstrap, brown on the frame, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. Cracks are visible on the loading lever base, with a few strong traces of bright original color. Grips are excellent, with a small chip absent from the right panel, light scratches and pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
