This is an exceptionally nice example of an excellent 1917 dated WWI DWM Artillery Luger pistol. These pistols have always been a favorite of collectors because of the uniqueness of the long barrel and the detachable wood board stock (when available). These stocked pistols were a unique concept in that they provided a light and highly accurate stocked pistol that was easy for Artillery crews to carry in the field. The top of the chamber is dated 1917 with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. The right side of the chamber has the three 'crown/gothic letter' proofs next to the "Imperial Eagle" firing proof, which is repeated on the barrel. It has the full serial number on the front of the frame, left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel with the last two digits of the serial number on the various small parts. The extractor and safety are correctly marked; "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" and it has the standard front sight with the fine tune artillery style tangent rear sight that is graduated from 1-8 (100-800) meters. The Luger is complete with one nickel plated magazine with wooden base that has been renumbered to match the pistol.
