Exceptional U.S. Springfield Model 1903 Hoffer-Thompson Bolt Action Gallery Rifle

Designed for use on small ranges, the Hoffer-Thompson is equipped with a 22 caliber bore and a chamber sized for a cartridge adaptor (not included), so the rifle would have the same manual of arms as the issue-model Springfield. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights graduated to "27", (usually a 2400 yard sight, but must have expanded supply) with a "SA/ordnance bomb/2-10" dated barrel. The straight bolt handle is stamped "K" on the underside, with a casehardened magazine cutoff. Smooth straight wrist stock, with "S" stamped on the forearm tip and on the rear of the ungrooved upper handguard, "5" behind the trigger guard, a "J.F.C." cartouche on the left side of the wrist, and a smooth steel buttplate. (no circle "P" cartouche present under wrist as would be correct for this variation!) Attributed to the Burt Kellerstadt Collection.

Excellent, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing some light handling marks overall. The receiver shows a few lines of gray patina, and a set of silver and gold vertical lines are present above and below the peep sight. Stock is also excellent, with some light scuffs and dings. Mechanically excellent. This is most likely the finest 1903 Hoffer Thompson we have ever offered at auction!
