Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 70
Manufactured in 1947 during the transition period (late 1945-51), this Winchester Model 70 carbine is chambered for the very desirable and rare 300 Savage caliber. Pre-64 Model 70 carbines in 300 Savage were manufactured on a special order basis only from about 1944 to the 1950s, making it one of the rarest variations of the Pre-64 Model 70 carbine on today's collector market. The carbine has a hooded ramp front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight and a receiver tapped for scope/sight mounting. The left side of the barrel has standard Winchester markings followed by "300 SAVAGE" with the factory proof on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The rifle also has a cloverleaf tang, polished bolt numbered to gun and a transition safety. The pistol grip stock features checkering, sling swivels and a checkered steel buttplate.
