Exceptional Rare Colt Single Action Army Revolver in Caliber .44 S&W with Fitted Leather Case and Fa
This Colt Single Action Army revolver was manufactured in 1921. This pistol is one of only 24 standard frame Single Action revolvers chambered for the .44 S&W cartridge. The revolver is complete with a rare factory russet leather fitted case with purple velvet lining. The revolver has a commercial blue barrel cylinder, trigger guard and backstrap with casehardened loading gate, frame and hammer. The two-piece walnut stocks have deluxe checkering and inlaid German silver Colt medallions. The revolver is complete with a Colt factory letter that lists the caliber as ".44 S&W", the barrel length as "5-1/2" inches, the stocks as "wood" and states that the revolver was sold to Schoverling, Daly and Gales in New York City on June 30, 1921. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the one-line legend: "Colt's PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.". The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: "RUSSIAN AND/S&W SPECIAL/ 44" in two lines. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with 'three-dates/two-lines' patent markings followed by the third style Rampant Colt trademark with the 30 degree arch beneath the rear hooves. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with an "8" assembler's mark above the Colt 'Triangle V/P' proofmark. The right rear triggerbow is stamped with a rework star. (Work done is uncertain, possibly action work) The loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "260". The serial number, "342241" is located on the bottom of the frame and on the left side of the trigger guard and backstrap underneath the grips. All of the visible serial numbers match.
