This is an excellent example of an all original pre-war Colt Model 1911A1 Super Match semi-automatic pistol. These Super Match pistols were manufactured in sequence with the standard Colt 38 Supers, except they featured a hand honed action, adjustable rear sights, (standard front and rear sight could also be ordered as in their example) and then received the high polished blue finish with all checkered walnut grip panels. Only approximately 5,000 of these special higher grade, target pistols were produced in total. The right side of the slide is marked "SUPER MATCH / COLT SUPER 38 / AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt motif. The opposite side of the slide has two line Colt's address markings above their 1897-1913 patent dates. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with a small letter "T" over the Colt "VP" inside a small triangle, verified proof and the right side is marked "60". It has the standard fixed front and rear sight with the blue barrel with polished chamber, checkered slide lock, thumb safety, and arched main spring housing, along with the standard Colt wide spur, checkered hammer. It is complete with one all blued magazine marked "COLT SUPER / 38 AUTO" on the base plate.
