Exceptional Late WWII Production Inland M1 Carbine with M3 Mounting Sniper Bar Scope
This is a unique example of a late production, 1944 era M1 carbine as manufactured by the Inland Mfg Division of General Motors corp. which has been fitted (possibly by arsenal) with an M3 sniper scope mounting bar and a Lyman "Alaskan" rifle scope. It has the standard M1 Carbine receiver markings and the barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV/GENERAL MOTORS/1-44". The carbine itself is a late WWII production version that retains the original flat M1 style bolt, the type two barrel band, push button safety, and low wood stock with the oval cutout. The stock has the IO proof in the sling slot and a crossed canon cartouche on the right side of the butt. As noted the rear sight has been removed and it is fitted with the standard M3 scope mounting bar over the top of the carbine and the bar which has the cast in markings of; "8247-39-1/A1 and VLT" across the top of the bar. The scope itself is a commercial 2.5 power version made by the Lyman gun sight Company and the left side of the tube has the three line commercial address and patent date information followed by "Alaskan". It has been mounted in a set of blued commercial semi-split rings. It has the all green parkerized finish on the metal parts with an oil finish on the stock and hand guard. It is complete with a green canvas web sling, oiler and one 20 round blue magazine.

Serial Number: 4962988

Excellent overall with 98% of the original GI parkerized finish showing slight wear on the receiver side rail, the edges and high spots overall. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent condition and show minimal handling marks overall with a coupe of minor pressure dents on the right side of the stock with some nicks/chips around the edge of the pistol grip. The scope has 98% of it's blued finish overall with a small spot of blue loss on the underside of the scope tube and it has clear optics. A very nice (and scarce) example of a late production World War II U.S. Inland M1 carbine fitted with a M3 scope mounting bar and scope.
