Exceptional Late WWII Nazi K98 Czech Production Rifle with Sling and Bayonet
This is an excellent example of a very late WWII production k98 rifle. This rifle was manufactured at the BRNO factory late in WWII while under control by the Germans. The top of the receiver is marked "dot" which is the wartime code for the BRNO factory in Czechoslovakia over an "eagle/63" proof and "1944" for the year of manufacture. The right side of the receiver is marked with two "Eagle 63" Waffenamt acceptance proofs and the left side is marked with the Nazi firing proof. The side wall is marked "Mod. 98". The left rear portion of the barrel is also marked with the serial number and a Nazi firing proof. Hooded front sight and rear tangent sight graduated to 200 meters. The rifle has a stamped rear barrel band, floor plate and trigger guard and a milled front barrel band. The cleaning rod is absent. The rifle is mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with a cupped buttplate and leather cross hatch sling. All visible numbers match. Complete with a "44 cvl" marked bayonet with smooth wooden handle, metal scabbard and leather hanger.
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: laminated
Gauge: 8 mm Mauser
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 4692ao
Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 95% plus original finish with some minor wear and thinning on the muzzle, barrel bands and bolt handle. The floor plate and trigger guard are thinning and show some smooth brown patina. The stock is very fine with a few minor dings and scratches. The sling is good. The bayonet, scabbard and hanger are all very good plus. The markings are highlighted in white and remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
