Exceptional Late Production Winchester Model 92 Saddle Ring Carbine
This is an example of a late production Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine. The Model 1892 was an updated successor to the Model 1873 using a scaled down version of the Model 1886 action and was chambered for the smaller cartridges. This particular carbine was manufactured in 1926 and features a blade front sight with an adjustable buckhorn rear sight. It has the standard staple and saddle ring on left side of receiver and sling studs mounted on the barrel band and buttstock. The left side of the barrel is marked "MODEL 92 - WINCHESTER/ TRADE MARK - 38 W.C.F." while the right side is marked "MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN CONN." Fitted with a smooth American walnut straight grip stock and forearm with a carbine buttplate.
BBL: 20 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 38 WCF
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 972083
Condition: Very fine. The carbine retains 98% original finish with some gray on the barrel band, some thinning on the underside of the receiver, high edge wear and the usual wear on the left side of the receiver from the saddle ring. The wood is refinished and remains very fine with only slight handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent and appears to have very little use. A very nice Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine.
