Solid rib barrels with double ivory bead sights on the solid matte rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, choked extra full/extra full with ejectors. Barrels marked "L.C. SMITH Specialty GRADE" on the top right and "HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. MFR'S FULTON, N.Y." on the left. The top of the rib is inscribed "W.H.H. PIATT". Mr. Piatt was from Kansas City, Kansas where he was an attorney and a member of the Kansas University football team, (1891-1895), and was Captain of the 1895 team. Mr. Piatt closed his firm in 1950, however continued to handle cases for friends until 1955. While practicing law he was one of the lawyers selected to aid in the establishment of the American Law institute in Kansas City and he was a member of the commission that drafted a state social security law in 1936. Mr. Piatt passed away on October 28, 1959 at the age of 91. The action side locks, trigger guard, break lever and forearm hardware are engraved with a broad floral scroll and each lock is marked "L.C. SMITH" with two quail in the grass on the left side and a duck in a marsh scene on the right side. Single Hunter one trigger with selector, tang mounted safety and mounted with a multi point checkered walnut forearm with ebony forend insert and pistol grip stock with a horn grip cap and serrated buttplate. The belly of the stock is has also been stamped "W.H.H. PIATT". Length of pull is 13 1/2 inches.

Excellent. The barrels and trigger guard retain 95% original blue finish with some thinning and edge wear. The action and locks retain 80% original slightly fading case colors with a smooth silver gray on the balance. The wood is very fine with some minor scratches on the right side of the stock, a few minor chips along the upper edge of the forearm and overall some scattered minor dings, scratches and sharp checkering. The markings and engraving and clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
