Exceptional Early World War II U.S. Army Inland M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine

This is an excellent example of a early-WWII M1A1 paratrooper Carbine manufactured in mid 1943. It has the standard receiver markings with the barrel stamped "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/4-43". It has the following early features; a type II trigger housing with the horizontal marked INLAND logo, with a "HI" marked hammer, unmarked blued push button safety, unmarked blued magazine catch, unmarked front sight and a unmarked, two position flip rear sight. The carbine is fitted with a correct first pattern high wood, paratrooper stock that is stamped "IO" inside the stock and a early deep groove, two rivet handguard that is also marked "IO" on the underside. The area of the stock above the pistol grip has a circled "P" proof with a with a "IO" and crossed cannon proofed on the underside of the pistol grip. The buttplate has the casting in markings and a leather cheekpiece still has the original brass rivets. Included with this scarce carbine are two 20 round blued magazines, marked "IA" and "SK" respectively and a WWII green web sling. This lot also includes a late pattern US marked green canvas storage bag/case. The outside of the bag is written in ink: "Comdr. A.D. Willis/USNR 8212A" a search of on-line records did not turn up any available information.

Excellent with 98% of the original dark green parkerized finish with light edge and high spot wear in some areas with slight finish loss on the right receiver rail. The stock is also in excellent condition with a nice dark color overall with clear distinct proofs. The excellent handguard has the same minimal wear with a slightly lighter shade of color. The fine original leather cheekpiece is intact showing only minor scratches and marks. An excellent early example of a scarce Inland manufacture Inland M1 A1 carbine.
